Instead of asking Tyler Denk (the CEO), “How can I help?” or saying, “I’ll work for you for free.” — which puts the burden on him to figure out who I am and how I can help.

I cold emailed and pitched him 3 projects I could lead for them while I was working with them.

Doing the work upfront does two things:

1. It shows you want the opportunity (badly)

2. It shows you can do the opportunity
