A few thoughts on money & happiness

Sometimes being too smart is a disadvantage. I have so many high IQ friends who can pick apart every business model and dissect every problem but in doing so paralyze themselves with inaction. You can’t intellectualize your way to a successful business. You need to start.

Criticism is the price of relevance.

The older I get, the more I realize that life will meet you at your level of audacity. The people who get what they want out of life aren't necessarily the most intelligent or the most talented. They're the ones who had the most courage.

"A man who procrastinates in his choosing will inevitably have his choice made for him by circumstance."

— Hunter S. Thompson

“If you don't voluntarily prioritise your health now, you will involuntarily be forced to later.” — Zuby

A few thoughts on money & happiness

The older I get, the more I think that rich is spelled: P-E-A-C-E. I see so many conventionally rich people who have everything except that.

"If you're so smart, why aren't you rich?" gets passed around a lot in entrepreneurial circles. I prefer: "If you're so smart, why aren't you happy?"

“After the game, the king and the pawn go into the same box.” — Italian Proverb

Success means being able to do more of what you are already doing.

Are you climbing the mountain for the world to see you, or for you to see the world?

“What it profits a man if he gains the whole world and loses his own soul.” Wrote Thoreau.

Money can buy a bed, but it can’t buy a good night’s sleep.

The person obsessed with reaching the summit as fast as possible will climb faster than those around them - but they also tend to miss the view, the wildflowers, the conversations at camp… all the reasons climbing is worth it in the first place.

We don’t want freedom from obligation, we want freedom to commit to a calling of our choosing.

“The personality that allows you to become rich prevents you from stopping work once you become rich.”

I want to be rich. I'll admit it. But not so I can buy a Lamborghini. I’d prefer a Porsche. Kidding.

I want to be rich so I can control my time.

So I can sit at a cafe and order my wife breakfast without looking at the prices.

So my parents don't have to worry about money.

So I can travel freely and show my kids the world.

So I can take my friends out to dinner and say, "Don't worry, it's on me."

So my kids can get the very best education.

That's my idea of a rich life.

Money isn't the goal; it's a tool to live a deeper, more fulfilling, adventurous life.

“If more money wouldn’t change how you spend your time, then you’re already rich.” - Jack Butcher

MrBeast: “If my mental health was a priority, I wouldn't be as successful as I am.”

“You can go to hell without moving an inch, just focus on what you lack. You can taste heaven without leaving earth, just rejoice in what you have.” - james clear

Naval Ravikant says, "To measure the quality of your life, simply do nothing and see how it feels."
