How to overcome imposter syndrome
Eagles & Pigeons

3 Thoughts
I.
I’m convinced that everyone should take a big swing at some point in their life and experience what it’s like to truly go all in on a meaningful pursuit otherwise they grow bitter with age.
II.
The most successful people I know are violently allergic to pessimistic people.
III.
The world is cruel to the shy and generous to the courageous.
You can just do things.

1 Game-Changing Idea
Hi, I’m Jay… and I suffer from imposter syndrome.
Yep, you read that right.
If you’re not familiar, imposter syndrome is the feeling you don’t belong and are afraid you’ll be exposed as a fraud or imposter.
It doesn’t matter how much I accomplish, I constantly have this overwhelming sense that I’m not enough. That I don’t belong. Especially now that I’ve started a new role at Acquisition.com - where the entire team are all the best of the best in their domains - my imposter syndrome has a tendency to flare up.
But I was talking with a teammate, and he told me a little mental frame that, honestly, changed how I view imposter syndrome entirely.
Eagles and pigeons.
→ Eagles fly high. Pigeons fly low. If you think you’re a pigeon, take a look around. If all you see are eagles, chances are… you’re an eagle too.
I’ve had the privilege of being in some pretty insane rooms as a 19-year-old. And I used to feel so guilty for being there. “I don’t deserve to be here,” I’d think to myself.
But what if I actually did deserve to be in that room?
It’s all about evidence.
As Alex Hormozi says, “You don’t become confident by shouting affirmations in the mirror, but by having a stack of undeniable proof that you are who you say you are.”
So here’s to stacking the proof.
And if you still doubt that you’re an eagle, just give time time. Pigeons can’t fly at eagles height for long.
But more often than not, what you’ll find is… you’ve been an eagle all along.
Until next week,
