I've worked for Noah Kagan & Alex Hormozi as a 19 year old kid.
If I wanted to work for James Clear, here's how I'd do it (step by step)...
Let's say I wanted to work with author James Clear.
- I really like his books.
- I admire the way he lives his life
- And I respect his content and ideas

First, I'd do a full audit on his business and brand.
I'd identify the problems he's facing, then look for the overlap with my own skills.
I have experience writing on Twitter, LinkedIn, and email, so I'd probably position myself as an email and social media copywriter.
From there, I'd choose the "Contact Quadrant" with the highest likelihood of success.

1:1 Friendly (Referral).
I'd look at my network to see if anyone I know has a connection to James or someone on his team, and try to get a warm intro.
1:1 Stranger (Cold Outreach).
I'd send a cold email to someone on his team, probably someone I found by researching his LinkedIn and identifying who works closely with him.
1:Many Friendly (Content).
I'd create content that shows I'm a great email copywriter. For 30 days straight, I'd publicly break down one email a day that I think could make James more money.
1:Many Stranger (Public Pitch).
I'd record a video with everything I would do as James’ email copywriter, post it on social media, tag him in it, and ask friends to also tag him and vouch for me in the comments.
Does this guarantee landing James Clear as a client?
No.
But it puts me in a strong position because it lets me work on my skill set, get closer to someone I want to work with, attract other opportunities by doing the work publicly, and learn from the outcome, whether he replies or not.
Are you starting to see how all the pieces fit together?
You don't have to apply on job sites or send out a thousand applications and pray someone gets back to you.
You can take your career (and life) into your own hands. Figure out what you want, then use probabilistic thinking to increase the likelihood you get it.
Ps. This is a modified excerpt from my new book 'Work With The Best'. It's my "cookbook for creating opportunities".
Rooting for you! ✊🏻
