I got a few questions about my new book ‘Work With The Best’ that I wanted to address all in one place.
If you’ve been on the fence about the book (or maybe just wanted to learn more), this email is for you.
Let’s begin:
Q1: What’s the book about?
This book is about getting what you want. More specifically, what you want out of your career.
It’s fundamentally how I view the world. It's a big reason I believe I've gotten what I want out of my life this early, and why I've been able to accelerate my career and compress timelines that usually take people decades.
Put simply… it’s my cookbook for creating opportunities.
Q2: Who is it for?
This book is for the ambitious person who knows they're capable of more (and is tired of waiting to be picked).
You want to work with someone you admire, land your first client, or get into a room you have no business being in. It skews younger (I wrote it for the version of me at 16), but the approach works at any age.
If you've looked at someone a few steps ahead of you and thought "I want in, I just don't know how," then this book is for you.
Q3: How is it different from book 1?
In my first book, You Can Just Do Things, I wrote about the power of permissionless action. I wanted you to realize that the default path isn’t the only path. That the career (and life) you want is out there, waiting for you to create it.
In this book, I'll walk you through the exact steps I followed to land dream jobs and clients, and build a profitable business, all as a naive 19-year-old.
Think of it as the tactical cousin to the first book. I share A LOT more of my personal stories and examples (rather than leaning on other people’s stories). It’s the most I’ve revealed about my permissionless approach process.
If you’ve been curious:
The pitch deck structure I used for all of my opportunities
Why I chose to leave my dream job (and move back home)
…then you’ll enjoy the book.
Q4: Are you single?
How’d you sneak this question in, you sly dog ;)
Yes, I’m single.
For the longest time I shut out the idea of a relationship because I thought, “How can I be ready for a relationship if I haven’t yet accomplished all of my goals?”
But the older I get, the more I realize how immature that belief is.
I’ve been intentional this year about putting myself out there and seeing what happens.
I’m open to any introductions, and the likelihood I say yes goes up the more copies of my book you buy (jk jk).
Q5: Why should I buy now?
They say that an author's reputation sells the pre-orders, and the quality of the book sells the rest.
I'd say that's accurate.
If you've gotten any value from any of my content (whether that be my tweets, my posts, my newsletter, or my first book), then there's a high likelihood that you’ll like this book too.
If you're new to me and you don't know my story, then it would be unfair for me to tell you why you should buy now.
What I will say is… there are some juicy bonuses, like:
the 3 pitch decks that I use to create all my opportunities
4 bonus chapters (on building a network, nailing your first 90 days on the job, how to leave gracefully, what I learned working with Alex Hormozi)
and a few other goodies that disappear the moment this preorder window ends
Q6: How does donating books work?
Glad you asked. The cool part about using Kickstarter to launch this book is that you can donate books, and the more books you donate, the better the bonuses get.
Let's say you want to fund a classroom and donate 50 books. You can tell me how many books you want for yourself, and the rest I will donate on your behalf.
If you want to keep 5 books, I will ship 5 to you, and the other 45 will go to high school and college students, and I'll let you know where they go.
You don’t have to handle any shipping or logistics. It’s pretty cool.
Ok, that’s a wrap.
If you have any remaining questions, feel free to reply to this email and I’ll get back to you.
Other than that, I sincerely hope you grab a copy (or multiple).
But if not, I appreciate you regardless.
Best,
Jay
